What are Load Cell Shackles?

A load cell shackle is essentially a lifting shackle and a tension load cell combined. The innovative design reduces the often much needed headroom and provides a strong connection. The stainless steel shackle pin is where the technology is and can measure the weight and forces applied by the attached load.

Simple to use with easily obtained data with a handy display unit. They may be wired or wireless; with the latter you can even send the data directly to your computer with the optional telemetry dongle (get in touch for details).

Load Cell Shackle Types

These shackle load cells fall into two main types, wired or wireless (telemetry). They do the same job it just depends on your usage preference as to your type choice.

Which ever type you decide on the shackle will be of the Crosby or GN brand to marine grade so you can be assured of high quality. The pin is from 17-4PH H1150+1150 Stainless steel, and incorporates a load centering bobbin, screw on nut and cotter pin for extra security.

Each shackle is supplied in a wooden storage case complete with calibration paperwork as well as proof load and test certification to UKCA BS EN & ISO 7500-1 2018.

When it comes to choosing your options to add to your order simply choose your safe working load, choose the wired or wireless option and then select whether you want the handheld control display.

Wired Load Cell Shackle & Standard Hand Held Display

These standard shackle load cells (SS-3.0) come with a 10 metre PUR screened signal cable which can be plugged into a standard hand held display unit (optional extra) for easy monitoring of your load.

The standard wired load cell shackles have multiple output options including MODBUS, ASCII, mV/V, RS485 , RS485 & 4-20mA, 0-10V.

This umbilical load monitoring shackle is ideal for under hook crane weighing and cable tension monitoring.

The hand held display unit (TW-3.0-S) is quite straight forward to use with a high quality, easy to read LCD screen, (even in sunlight). Each monitor can be customised with a name so that if more than one unit is used they are easily identifiable. There are 3 models to choose from, all having an audible alarm. They have various functions including tare, peak hold and different units of measurement. Wireless Shackle Load Cell and Telemetry Control Panel

This marine grade, high strength shackle load cell enables wireless connection to the telemetry hand held control device. This means you are not hindered by cable length or obstructions. With an 800 metre line of sight range this set up will give you the best flexibility of use. They use a 2.4GHz frequency which is license free.

They have all the same measuring capabilities as the standard wired model so your load can be kept in check easily. Measuring units include Kg, metric tonnes, US tons, Kips, kN and lbs.

The wireless shackle incorporates a 3.7V LI-Po battery which can be recharged with the supplied USB charger. The 350 hour battery life is quite impressive. The hand held telemetry display to use with the wireless shackle is the TW-3.0-T model and comes in 3 different variations (see specification and download sheet for more). This unit requires 3xAA batteries for operation and has a 150 battery life in constant use.

Connecting to your PC

If you would like your data transferred directly to your PC then we can supply a USB dongle to pair with the wireless set up. The 600m wireless range enables quick data logging for accurate record keeping when used with the TW-3.0 software toolkit.
