About the Snatch Blocks
There are a range of blocks to suit different applications, snatch blocks enable the wire rope to be easily fitted as they open up to insert the rope instead of pushing it through. A snatch block provides a means of changing the direction of pull as well as increasing the pulling capacity when using the correct sheave block technique. They are typically used with winches and are quicker to fit than a sheave block thanks to the movable side plates for quick rope insertion.
Sheave blocks, like snatch blocks are used to change the pulling orientation and increase capacity. However the rope can be a little more tricky to thread through than a snatch block but there are single, double and triple sheaved blocks available, thus allowing for multiple ropes to be used
When using sheave blocks or snatch blocks the angle of the rope can have an effect on the overall safe working load limit. For example on a 2000kg lead line at a 45 degree angle will be reduced to 1840kg
