Semi-automatic in operation the DTG-H drum tongs are easy to use and operate. Designed for use with 210 litre steel drums and also the plastic L & XL ring variety with a bottom rim. They possess a maximum 500kg lifting capacity; they rely on the weight of the drum to apply the necessary forces to the tongs to hold in place and therefore should not be used with empty drums.
They can be attached to a crane or hoist hook via the incorporated lifting eye to facilitate the lifting process. Made from mild steel and finished with a vivid yellow colouring for good visibility the DTG-H complies to the latest health and safety regulations and will be delivered to you fully tested and certified.
The lifting eye makes it easy to fit the tongs to a hook on a lifting device; this could be oh a hoist, crane or even a yoke/hook attachment on a fork lift truck. The tongs are slung underneath the lifting device for unhindered operation.
Using the lever, lock the tongs in the open position and then move until located directly over the drum which should already be horizontal. Now you can lower the tongs centrally over the drum until the end grabs have passed over the top and bottom rims of the drum. The locking lever can now be disengaged and the grabs will move inwards, resting on the drum. Slowly lift up and the grabs will automatically locate under the drum rims where is will grab firmly until the weight is taken off the tongs by setting down.
Because of the simplistic design and minimal moving parts, maintenance is easy and servicing can be kept to a minimum.
