About the DTG-AU Drum Lifting Tongs

The DTG-AU drum lifting tongs can be slung from an overhead crane hook as well as from a fork lift truck; although the FMHA fork lift yoke  or similar will be required to attach to the forks before attaching the DGT-AU to the suspension eye.

Drums are lifted in a vertical orientation with this piece of drum lifting equipment and it is ideal for situations where lifting drums from the side is not possible, this may simply be because accessibility is limited.

These drum lifting tongs boast full automatic operation; they can lift and set down a drum without the need to leave the seat of the forklift or crane. This operating system means that productivity is quicker and risk of injuries is minimal.

Manufactured from mild steel the DTG-AU is a robust drum handler with great visibility thanks to the painted yellow high gloss finish. There are two models of the DTG-AU, one can handle up to 500kgs and the other can handle up to 1000kgs. They are fairly light in weight for easier handling and all come fully tested and certified to the latest health & safety regulations, CE marked and certificate of conformity are provided, so you can be assured of a great quality product.

Using the DTG-AU Drum Tongs

Once the attachment is securely fitted to your chosen lifting device you can begin the drum lifting task. Ensuring the 4 pads are open the DTG-AU can be lowered over the drum where the pads will rotate on contact to release; when the pads are situated under the drum rim a slight lift will close up the tong pads and grip the drum under the top rim tightly, then you are ready to lift. When you have set down the drum the device will turn 90 degrees and lock the tong pads/grips open so that they can be lifted clear of the deposited drum.

As there is only one moving component the DTG-AU drum tongs, maintenance is minimal, keep clean and lubricate regularly will ensure high reliability.
