The BS small dee shackles with safety bolt have a different split pin position to other safety bolted shackles; instead of being inserted through the very end of bolt's shank, it also goes through a special nut, this virtually guarantees that the bolt will not become unscrewed unwittingly.
These shackles are available in a good range of working load limits from 0.3 up to 19 tonnes. Sizes also vary with inside widths beginning at 3/8 inch and going up to 3 inches; inside lengths begin at 7/8 inch and raise up to 7 1/4 inches. A dee shackle is quite a bit sturdier than a bow shackle of equivalent size, but it does not offer the ability to handle loads from different angles. A straight pull is the only thing that can be achieved safely.
Made from high tensile steel with a self-coloured finish (hot dip galvanising available on request). Requesting galvanisation may be worthwhile if you are worried about corrosion, so think about the environment in which you will be using this type of shackle and make a decision accordingly.
