Unlike other D shackles with safety bolts the location of the retaining cotter pin is not situated through the end of the pin; instead the cotter/split pin is inserted through a specially drilled hole which goes straight through the nut and pin. This design ensures that the bolt cannot become loose and unscrew itself even if there is friction against the bolt.

Manufactured from high tensile steel the body and bolt are self coloured though we can supply this type of shackle with a hot dipped galvanised finish on request. They generally conform to B.S. 3032 table 2 - 1958.
