About the 5000kg Aluminium Porta Gantry

The aluminium porta gantry system is intended for lifting and lowering goods or personnel; rope access or to provide a safety anchor to prevent falls.

The 5000kg aluminium porta gantry can be quickly set up for use with 2-4 people on hand. It will be delivered in just 4 parts; 2 A frame sides and the top beam as well as the beam trolley. The A frames come folded up for ease of transportation and storage but is easily opened up ready for set up.

Unlike the smaller porta gantries in this range, due to the size the A frames on the 5000kg model incorporate additional stabiliser legs with castors. Their function is to enable easier transportation around the workplace. 2 people can push it around wheelbarrow style relatively easily. The legs are also used for additional support during the set up process when raising the a frames to the vertical position. Find out more in the set up manual download above.

5 Tonne Aluminium Gantry Specifics

The 5 tonne aluminium gantry comes in 4 varying maximum heights of lift ranging from 3181mm to 5000mm. Although this number can be lowered/changed thanks to the gantries ability to be height adjustable. Depending on the height of the model chosen there are 5 or 6 incremental locations with 200mm spacings. This function can be hugely beneficial especially on the taller models because the centre of gravity can be brought down to as low as possible for optimum stability.

Another example of the height adjustment benefits is when the gantry is used over a void such as a manhole or canal. The height can be adjusted to suit and enable lower levels to be reached if the hoist allows.

It is also possible to adjust the span of the gantry by bringing in the A frames. They can be adjusted in 200mm increments between the min and max allowance. See specifications and download manual for more detail.

Aluminium Gantry for Fall Prevention Applications

Up to 5 people (1 per trolley) can be attached to the 5000kg aluminium porta gantry when fall prevention is required in certain situations. However the maximum permitted working load limit in these cases is 2500kg. The user must wear a full body harness and a retractable device or shock absorber (to EN355) to ensure the maximum force of 6kN is met. Any winch used should also meet EN1497:2017 or equivalent. Aluminium Gantry Options

Aside from the height, span and safe working load limit to decide upon there are also add ons to provide other functions if you need them.
